Hudson Soft. and the Nintendo Japanese pc games

In the summer of 1983, in Japan, the Nintendo Family Computer known to many as the Famicom, was at the top when it came to the video game market and the most popular game was Super Mario Bros. It was no surprise, the Japanese market loved video games and Nintendo was a big name in gaming. As Atari took over the North American video games market, Nintendo reigned supreme in Japan. Hudson Soft. was known as the first third-party game developer on the Famicom and made many great games like Ice Climber, Gradius, and Excitebike. In 1983, Personal Computers or PCs became big around the world. People realized that PCs could be used for video games and work making them seem like a better buy than dedicated video game systems. Then in 1984, Hudson Soft. wanting to get into the PC market, approached Nintendo with an idea. They asked Nintendo if they could use their Intellectual properties to create some PC games, surprisingly Nintendo said yes. Hudson Soft. ported over games like Excitebike, Balloon Fight,  Ice Climber, Golf, and Tennis. They even created new games like Mario Bros. Special, Super Mario Bros. Special, and a  sequel to Donkey Kong 3. I was so curious about these games that I downloaded a PC-88 emulator on my laptop to play Super Mario Bros. Special. It was pretty different from the Mario I was used to on the NES. It had more faded looking colors and every time you moved onto a new section of the screen it would refresh the screen by turning black for a second. For the gameplay, you couldn't jump as high as you could in Super Mario Bros., the running was too fast, and it was too easy to get killed by an enemy when the screen refreshed. Hudson Soft. Nintendo PC games are not hidden gems or must-plays but they are a part of Nintendo's long and fascinating history.
